The Henry Caro Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Fort Benning, Ga., welcomed a new commandant at a ceremony Tuesday in front of Infantry Hall.
Command Sgt. Maj. Zoltan James assumed command of the academy from Command Sgt. Maj. Jay A. Brimstin, who is retiring after nearly 30 years in the Army.
Brimstin spent most of his career in the 75th Ranger Regiment, including three tours in 2nd Battalion at Fort Lewis, Wash.
James has served in the Army for 23 years, most recently as command sergeant major of 2nd Battalion, 54th Infantry, 192nd Brigade at Fort Benning.
Before that, James was operations sergeant major with 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Ga.
The Henry Caro NCO Academy provides training to selected soldiers and infantrymen on the technical and tactical competencies. The areas of focus include leadership, duties, responsibilities, authorities, maintenance, war fighting skills and training management.
