A captain promotion list containing the names of 4,200 active-duty officers is scheduled to be released Thursday morning.

The list, with names, sequence numbers and career branches, will be posted at soon after it is released by the Army at 7:30 a.m. Eastern time.

The annual Army Competitive Category O-3 list was compiled by a board that met from Oct. 21 to Nov. 5.

Most officers considered by the board were commissioned in 2006.

Promotions off the new list are expected to begin soon, so that by early March more than 900 of the officers will be wearing captain tracks.

In other officer promotion news, Army personnel officials have projected 895 advancements to the ranks of chief warrant officer 3 through colonel in March.

Included in the total are 47 promotions to colonel for officers of the Army Competitive Category, 111 to lieutenant colonel, 310 to major, 124 to captain and 118 to the senior ranks of the Warrant Officer Corps.
