FAIRBANKS, Alaska Soldiers from Fort Wainwright are headed to Pakistan to help the flood-ravaged nation.

The Denali Task Force, comprised of 325 soldiers, will start deploying early this week joined by 10 CH-47 Chinook helicopters and eight UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.

The floods began about a month ago with the onset of monsoon rains. Vast swaths of prime agricultural land are submerged and more than 1 million homes have been damaged or destroyed.

There is no set timeframe for the mission.
