The Army plans January advancements to these ranks:
Lieutenant colonel: 160 for all branches and corps including:
å 66 for the Maneuver, Fires and Effects
å 35 for Operational Support
å 28 for Force Sustainment.
Major: 287 including:
å 108 for Maneuver, Fires and Effects
å 56 for Operational Support
å 55 for Force Sustainment.
Captain: 33
Chief warrant officers: 162 including:
å CW5: 15
å CW4: 66
å CW3: 81

The Army plans to promote 655 officers from the active component in January, a total that does not include any advancements to captain or colonel for the Army Competitive Category.

The monthly promotion forecast released by the Army Dec. 16 covers the ranks of chief warrant officer through colonel.

Additional promotions to first lieutenant and chief warrant officer two will be released in late December.

Only 13 colonel promotions have been scheduled for January, primarily because the 2011 ACC lists released in October are pending Senate approval.

The January promotion plan does authorize an initial round of advancements off the 2010 lists for the Medical Service Corps, Medical Specialist Corps, Veterinary Corps and Nurse Corps.

The authorization does not include any promotions for several thousand first lieutenants considered by the annual Army Competitive Category board that met in early December.

The results of that board will be announced later this winter or early next spring.
