LINCOLN, Neb. — A doctor who now practices at an Army base in Missouri is denying claims that her care contributed to the overdose deaths of at least five people.
Dr. Barbara Froehner of Seward told public health officials that she "met the standard of care in each and every one of these cases," according to the Lincoln Journal Star.
Froehner, now a family physician at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., testified Wednesday at a Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services hearing.
The attorney general's office filed a petition for disciplinary action saying she prescribed drugs that led to the overdose deaths of patients between 2008 and 2010.
Froehner's attorney, William Tannehill, said his client is being blamed for "random, unfortunate, unforeseeable events."
Dr. Gerald Luckey, hired by the state, said his review of the cases showed a "pattern of negligent care."
