DENVER A soldier found dead in her barracks at a Colorado infantry post was identified Tuesday as a Houston woman whose death is being investigated as a homicide.

The body of Brandy Fonteneaux, 28, was found Sunday at Fort Carson outside Colorado Springs. KKTV quoted her family as saying the soldier had been stabbed and was found unclothed.

Chris Grey, a spokesman for the Army Criminal Investigation Command, said he could not comment on the report. Fonteneaux's sister and mother declined to comment to The Associated Press.

Grey said no arrests have been made. He declined to say whether any suspects have been identified.

Investigators said they don't believe anyone else is in danger.

Fonteneaux lived in the barracks where she was found, Grey said. Grey declined to say whether she was killed in the barracks or some other place.

"It just took my breath away," said Joanna Fonteneaux of Houston, the soldier's great aunt. "I said, ‘Oh my lord, a young girl like that?'"

Fonteneaux held the rank of specialist and had been in the Army two years. She was a food service specialist in the 4th Engineer Battalion.

Fonteneaux's death came three days after another Fort Carson soldier was killed in a crash that was ruled a suicide. There was no indication the two deaths were related.

Jordan Matthew Dubois, 20, of Milwaukee, Ore., died Thursday in Colorado Springs about a mile off the post. City police said he was driving a pickup that left a street at high speed and crashed into a light pole, a tree and landscaping boulders. The coroner ruled the death a suicide.

Dubois enlisted in February 2011.
