A system problem caused some sergeants to receive unearned promotion points, the Human Resources Command said. (Sgt. 1st Class Scott Turner / Army)

Some sergeants have received promotion points they didn't earn due to a system problem, according to the promotions branch at Human Resources Command.
The system problems have led to the automated Promotion Point Worksheet awarding promotion points to some sergeants for completing the Advanced Leaders Course, when the sergeants in fact are not graduates of ALC.
Army policy requires that soldiers complete the two-phase ALC before they can be awarded promotion points.
As a result of the problem, HRC is making promotion point adjustments.
This will result in non-graduates of the course losing 90 promotion points.
The points will be restored upon successful completion of ALC.
