SYRACUSE, N.Y. — More than 100 New York National Guard soldiers are returning home on Christmas Eve.
The soldiers from the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team are flying home after completing demobilization at Camp Shelby, Miss. They'll arrive Monday night at Hancock Field in Syracuse. Those who don't live in central New York will be bused to armories in New York City, Latham, New Windsor, Rochester and Buffalo.
The guardsmen mobilized in January and served in Kuwait in a variety of logistics, security, and support positions.
About 120 soldiers returned to New York on Saturday, and 115 came home on Dec. 20.
More than 1,700 New York Army National Guard soldiers in the 27th Brigade mobilized at Camp Shelby.
Demobilization will continue for about 500 soldiers.
