Stewart soldier killed in Afghanistan attack

RICHMOND, Va. The Pentagon is reporting the combat death of a 28-year-old Richmond-area soldier in Afghanistan.

The Army says 28-year-old Sgt. Aaron X. Wittman of Chester was killed Thursday after his unit was attacked by small arms fire while on mounted patrol in Nangarhar Province.

He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, from Fort Stewart in Georgia.
