HARWOOD, Md. Army specialists removed what was believed to be a World War II-era munition from an Anne Arundel County neighborhood.
County firefighters were called after the 2-foot-by-10-inch shell was found near Gray's Road in Harwood about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Battalion Chief Steve Thompson http://bit.ly/SuX8Ld">told The Capital of Annapolis that emergency crews were on the scene until about 7 p.m. Thompson said Army specialists from Fort Belvoir, Va. took possession of the ordnance and rendered it safe.
