Conservative Republican Allen West of Florida was known in Congress for his sometimes fiery, no-holds-barred political comments. So it seems fitting that the Tea Party favorite's next chapter will be as an Internet TV host.

West, who was narrowly defeated for a second House term, told Fox News that he is joining conservative PJ Media and will be the host of "Next Generation Today," which launches in February.

"We're going to look at the news, the current news, through the lens of young Americans, and we're going to start to stand up for that next generation," West, an Army veteran, said Tuesday night on Fox News.

West challenged the vote count in his race against Democrat Patrick Murphy and conceded defeat two weeks after the election. It was one of the most expensive House races in the nation, with the Republican spending more than $17 million in his unsuccessful re-election bid.

So what inspired West to focus on younger people? The 2013 Fiesta Bowl in Arizona, where Oregon defeated Kansas State, the school where West got his master's degree.

"I looked over at my two daughters, dressed in K-State purple, and thought about my first college bowl game. I considered the cost today to attend a BCS bowl game, and thought about how the college-bowl experience will be something that will be harder for future generations to afford," he wrote in a Next Generation newsletter.
