The Pentagon has lifted the military's ban on women serving in combat, a move that will allow women into hundreds of thousands of front-line positions and potentially into elite commando jobs, a senior defense official said Wednesday.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's decision gives the military services until January 2016 to seek exceptions.

What do you think of allowing women in combat roles?

Do you think the Army should do it? Other services too?

Send your comments to"> with the words "women in combat" in the message line.

Your opinion may appear in Army Times.
