The convening date for the third-quarter fiscal 2013 Federal Officer Candidate School selection board has been pushed back one week, from March 18 to March 25.

Application packets submitted for the board must arrive at Human Resources Command by March 8, according to an announcement made Feb. 11 by HRC.

Packets received after the deadline will be assigned to the fourth-quarter OCS board that meets July 29 to Aug. 2.

OCS eligibility requirements also have been adjusted to allow applications from soldiers who are 33 years old, provided they will be no older than 34 at the time of commissioning.

Previously, the maximum age for active-component applicants was 31, and the maximum commissioning age was 32.

Active Guard and Reserve soldiers are not eligible to apply for OCS when they are in AGR status. To qualify for the program, they must separate from the AGR and enlist in the Regular Army.

Other requirements and criteria announced by the Army in November remain in effect, such as:

Application packets only will be accepted through the Army Knowledge Online organizational file. Packets received via email, in hard copy or outside the designated application window will not be accepted.

Active-component soldiers who will reach nine years time-in-service by the convening date of the board are not eligible.

All packets must include a memorandum from a company commander indicating that the applicant has been alerted for deployment.

Soldiers who have been alerted may request an exception to policy with a written statement from their commander indicating they will be released from deployment at least 90 days before their OCS report date.

Soldiers who are based overseas are not eligible to apply for OCS until they have completed at least 12 months on station. If selected, soldiers can request curtailment from the overseas assignment.

Results of the second-quarter fiscal 2013 OCS selection board that met in mid-January were released Feb. 8 by the Army.
