Monthly officer promotions will increase slightly in March, with 949 Regular Army members slated for advancements to the ranks of chief warrant officer 2 through colonel.

The March forecast calls for 11 more promotions than in February.

Within the Army Competitive Category, there will be 44 promotions to colonel, 129 to lieutenant colonel, 160 to major, 309 to captain and 99 to the grades of CW3 through CW5.

March promotions will reduce the 2012 Army Competitive Category captain list to 175 names.

The 2013 captain board meets in April, so a new list should be available by early summer.

March promotions also will reduce the ACC major lists to fewer than 1,000 names.

Results of the 2013 board that met in October and November are scheduled to be released in March.
