SFC selection lists to be released soon

Selection lists containing the names of several thousand Regular Army and Active Guard and Reserve (Army Reserve) soldiers recommended for promotion to sergeant first class will be released April 4.

The selection lists were compiled by the fiscal 2013 SFC boards that met in February and early March at Fort Knox, Ky.

SFC boards are the largest promotion panels convened by the Army annually.

The active-component board typically considers 25,000 to 30,000 staff sergeants for advancement, and the AGR board several hundred.

Last year, the active-component board considered 28,413 soldiers for promotion and selected 6,988, for an overall select rate of 24.6 percent.

AGR board considered 807 and selected 426, for a select rate of 52.8 percent.
