EL PASO, Texas — A man who claimed self-defense has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for the fatal shooting of two soldiers from West Texas in an argument over a woman.
A jury in El Paso on Monday sentenced Craig Allen Graham.
Jurors on Friday convicted Graham of two counts of murder in the 2012 gunfire outside a bar that killed two Fort Bliss privates: Preston Brown and Damien Bailey. Investigators said the victims were innocent bystanders.
Another jury in February acquitted Spc. Tyrone Head of murder charges. Officials said friends of Graham and Head earlier argued about a woman.
Witnesses in Head’s trial testified he shot into the air and then Graham returned fire toward the victims. Head was wounded.
Graham’s two 99-year prison terms must be served concurrently.
