FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Text messages between a general facing a court-martial in North Carolina and the woman that accuses him of forcible sex show a relationship that was sometimes playful and at other times angry.
The Fayetteville Observer said it has obtained seven months of text messages to and from Army Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair.
In one message, the accuser told Sinclair he is a "beautiful, magnificent man." He responds that he loves her so much.
Sinclair faces charges including adultery, attempting to violate a legal order, communicating threats, conduct unbecoming an officer, forcible sodomy, indecent acts, mistreatment and wrongful sexual conduct.
Sinclair was a deputy commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division when the accusations were made against him,
The next hearing is May 14. Sinclair's court-martial is to start June 25.
