Minot operations commander relieved of duty

The commander in charge of training and proficiency for the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., has been relieved of duty.

The base announced today that Lt. Col. Randy Olson, commander of the wing's operations support squadron, was relieved because of a loss of confidence in his ability to provide necessary leadership, according to a release.

Last month, the wing reprimanded 19 officers after the Minuteman III earned the equivalent of a "D" during an inspection. The operations squadron conducts training, "ensures crew proficiency and reinforces standards" for the operations group at the base, according to a statement.

Lt. Col. Trevor Hazen will assume command of the squadron tomorrow, according to the Associated Press.

Also today, the base announced that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Martin Dempsey will visit the base next week and hold a meeting.
