DOD: Drum soldier dies in Germany

WASHINGTON — Military officials say a 22-year-old soldier from Southeast Texas has died in Germany following a noncombat related incident in Afghanistan.

The Defense Department in Washington on Tuesday identified the soldier as Spc. Anthony R. Maddox of Port Arthur.

DOD says Maddox died Monday. The incident in Andar, Afghanistan, is under investigation. Further details were not immediately released.

Maddox was assigned to the 10th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, N.Y.
