RIVERSIDE, CALIF. — A judge has sentenced one man to death and another to two life terms in prison for the 2008 murders of a Marine Corps sergeant and his wife.

Riverside County Judge Christian Theirbach sentenced 23-year-old Emrys John to death on Friday and sentenced his co-defendant, 25-year-old Kevin Cox, to two life terms in prison without parole.

The two were convicted in June of killing Marine Sgt. Jan Pietrzak and his wife, Quiana Jenkins-Pietrzak, in their French Valley home.

The newlywed couple was bound and shot in the head. Jenkins-Pietrzak was sexually assaulted.

A third defendant, Tyrone Miller, was sentenced to death last month and a fourth is awaiting trial.

Prosecutors say all four had worked with Pietrzak while stationed at Camp Pendleton and they intended to rob him.
