Applications are being accepted from qualified Army Reserve captains and majors seeking designation in Functional Area 51 (Research, Development and Acquisition), and assignment to the Army acquisition community.
The fiscal 2014 accessions program is open to officers serving as members of Troop Program Units, the Individual Mobilization Augmentee program and the Individual Ready Reserve.
Members of the Active Guard and Reserve, the Army Medical Department career branches, the Judge Advocate General’s Corps and the Chaplain Corps are not eligible for this program.
Basic eligibility criteria requires that TPU, IMA and IRR applicants:
■ Be a captain with at least four years’ time in grade, or
■ Be a major with no more than two years’ time in grade.
■ Be a graduate of the Captains Career Course, and have completed at least 12 months in a key developmental assignment for their branch, or be serving in such an assignment.
■ Have 24 college hours of business education, such as accounting, business, finance, contracts, economics, industrial management, law, marketing, organization and management, purchasing and quantitative methods, are required for officers accessed into the 51C (Contract and Industrial Management) career field.
Officers assigned to 51A (Systems Development) positions must have at least 24 business credit hours before being accessed into the Army Acquisition Corps.
The application window opens Aug.15 and will close Oct. 17. The selection panel is scheduled to convene Nov. 4. Results will be released in early December.
