A Fort Hood, Texas, soldier is being held in the weekend shooting death of a retired sergeant at a late-night gathering on post, according to a post spokesman.
Sgt. Brett M. Wessel, a 26-year-old married combat engineer, was apprehended in West Fort Hood by post military police on Sunday in connection with the death of Ryan F. Dickinson, a 26-year-old who is married and medically retired.
Police responded to the scene, a private home, at about 3 a.m.
Wessel was placed in pretrial confinement in Bell County Jail, the spokesman said. No charges had been preferred as of Tuesday afternoon.
Wessel is assigned to 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.
