PETERSBURG, VA. — A new study says the growth patterns of Fort Lee and communities surrounding the U.S. Army base are compatible.
The Joint Land Use Study recommends developing a formalized regional approach to enhance communication and land use coordination between Fort Lee and surrounding communities.
The study also recommends providing information to the public regarding the location of noise, safety and other impacts related to Fort Leeís training and operational mission.
Crater Planning District Commission executive director Dennis Morris tells The Progress-Index that the studyís overall goal is to give communities surrounding Fort Lee a better understanding of its mission. The goal also is to ensure that the communities donít encroach on the baseís mission.
