KILLEEN, TEXAS — Police in Killeen have evacuated people north of downtown after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found Thursday.

People are being asked to avoid the area from North 2nd Street to North 10th Street and from East Dunn Avenue to East Harrison Avenue, police said on their Facebook page.

Those evacuated are at the Killeen Community Center. Fort Hood and Killeen police are investigating.

Police say there is no link so far to this incident and Wednesday's deadly shooting on Fort Hood.

UPDATE: KXAN TV is reporting that the device that prompted the evacuation is not an explosive.
