General officers nominated or assigned to new posts

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Friday announced three presidential nominations of Air Force generals:

■ Lt. Gen. James Holmes, is nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy chief of staff, strategic plans and requirements, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon. Holmes is currently vice commander, Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph.

■ Brig. Gen. Mark Brown, is nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. He is director, financial management, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

■ Brig. Gen. Roger Teague, is nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. The Air Force announced in April that Teague has been assigned to serve as the director, space programs, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Acquisition, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon.

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh also announced seven assignments Thursday:

■ Maj. Gen. Gregory Lengyel, commandant of cadets, Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado, becomes commander, Special Operations Command Europe, and director, Special Operations, U.S. European Command, Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany.

■ Lengyel is replaced by Col. Stephen Williams, selected for the grade of brigadier general and currently commander, 35th Fighter Wing, Pacific Air Forces, Misawa Air Base, Japan.

■ Brig. Gen. John Bansemer, director of intelligence, Headquarters U.S. European Command, Stuttgart-Vaihingen, becomes deputy chief, Central Security Service, National Security Agency, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.

■ Bansemer is replaced by Brig. Gen. Paul Nelson, currently deputy to the deputy chief of staff, intelligence, Headquarters International Security Assistance Force and deputy director, operations and support, J2, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, U.S. Central Command, Kabul.

■ Brig. Gen. Giovanni Tuck, commander, Defense Logistics Agency Energy, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, becomes director of operations, deputy chief of staff, operations, plans and requirements, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon.

■ Tuck is replaced by Brig. Gen. Mark McLeod, currently director of logistics, engineering and security assistance, Headquarters U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

■ Brig. Gen. Blaine Holt, director of logistics, Headquarters U.S. European Command, Stuttgart-Vaihingen, becomes deputy U.S. military representative to North Atlantic Treaty Organization Military Committee, Headquarters NATO, Brussels.
