FORT HOOD, TEXAS — Fort Hood has urged customers to limit water use to essential activities after supply from the main water line was interrupted.
The Central Texas Army base declared Sunday a stage 4 water supply emergency. That bans watering lawns, filling swimming pools, washing cars and other “non-essential” indoor and outdoor use.
Fort Hood said the water supply shortage has also affected the neighboring cities of Copperas Cove and Killeen.
The base said Bell County officials expect the interruption to be fixed by late Sunday.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said in a report last week that Bell County has been asking customers to voluntarily limit water use for nearly two years. The Texas state climatologist says the current drought affecting many parts of the state is the second-worst on record.
