COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — Members of Fort Carson's last combat brigade in Afghanistan are starting to come home.

About 150 soldiers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team were welcomed home Wednesday by family and friends waving flags. Former soldier Jesse Cunard proposed to his girlfriend, Spc. Bethany Jensen, soon after she arrived.

The Gazette reports that the brigade is sending troops home early as American bases are handed over to Afghan forces. More members of the 4th Brigade Combat Team are expected to return over the next four months.
