CHARLESTON, W.VA. — Passengers aboard an Air Force Reserve C-130 airplane are safe after an emergency landing at Yeager Airport in Charleston.

Airport officials said the plane landed without incident shortly after 5 p.m. Friday after reporting smoke in the cockpit. The plane was en route from Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The 42 people on board included a mix of military and retired civilians. One person was taken to an area hospital for nausea.

Other passengers and crew members were transported to the Air National Guard base near the airport.

Officials say the airport remained open and operational during the incident.
