FORT COLLINS, Colo. Family and friends are gathering to remember the Colorado Marine killed in a crash on his way home to surprise his little brother.

The funeral for Lance Cpl. Brennan Ching will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Evangelical Church in Fort Collins.

He died in a rollover crash in central Utah on Aug. 15 while traveling from California to Fort Collins.

The Coloradoan reported that Ching told his sister he was planning to take his brother, 8-year-old Alex Vicary, to his first day of second grade.

The newspaper published a story about Ching coming home to surprise Alex last March after the little boy sent a letter to the Easter bunny asking that his brother be brought home.
