May promotion plan for officers due this week

A May promotion plan for officers is being staffed at the Pentagon and probably will be released early this week.
The active-component forecast will contain monthly promotion authorizations for senior warrant officers, and the ranks of captain through colonel for all branches and corps.
Additional promotions for officers advancing to first lieutenant and chief warrant officer two under the semi-centralized system will be announced in a week or two.
There were 681 centralized officer promotions in April, including several off newly confirmed major lists for the Judge Advocate General’s Corps and Army Medical Department.
This year’s Army Competitive Category major board convenes Tuesday and is slated to be in session until May 4. The list will take about two months to process and will require Senate confirmation before promotions can be scheduled.
Within the past several months, basic-branch captains have advanced to major at less than 10 years of service.
