New acquisition MOS for enlisted soldiers
Posted : Saturday Aug 11, 2007 0:09:44 EDT
The Army is accepting reclassification requests for its newest military occupational specialty, 51C (acquisition, logistics and technology contracting noncommissioned officer).
The new MOS will be launched Oct. 1, with the Army Acquisition Support Center at Fort Belvoir, Va., serving as proponent.
The specialty will be part of the Army Acquisition Corps, and will be in career management field 51, Acquisition.
For detailed information about the new specialty, soldiers can access http://asc.army.mil/career/programs/nco/default.cfm.
The reclassification program basically is open to staff sergeants and sergeants first class who are in a balanced or overstrength MOS, and have fewer than 10 years of active federal service.
The time-in-service requirement can be waived for applicants who otherwise are eligible.
Soldiers can determine if they are in a balanced or overstrength specialty by contacting their local career counselor.
Reclassification application packets should be submitted via certified mail to: USAASC, CMF 51 Proponent, Attn: Maj. Rupkalvis, 9900 Belvoir Road, Building 201, Suite 101, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060.
