Procurement chief to leave job
Posted : Friday Nov 30, 2007 13:12:06 EST
Claude Bolton, the U.S. Army assistant secretary for acquisition, logistics and technology, submitted his resignation Nov. 30, officials in Bolton’s Pentagon office said.
“Mr. Bolton notified his key staff members yesterday afternoon that he was offering his resignation to Mr. Geren to be effective January 2, 2008, which is exactly six years after being sworn in,” Army spokesman Dave Foster said in a written statement.
As Army procurement chief, Bolton fought for multiyear procurement contracts, more funding for modernization and a bigger defense budget. He was in charge of a $56 billion annual budget for Army procurement, next-generation weapon development and repairing war-torn gear.
His 38-year career as an Air Force officer included 232 combat missions over Vietnam as a fighter pilot.
His next career move was not announced by Army officials.
