USASOC to welcome new command sergeant major

Army Special Operations Command held a ceremony Monday to welcome its new command sergeant major at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Incoming Command Sgt. Maj. Parry L. Baer will assume responsibility of USASOC from current Command Sgt. Maj. Michael T. Hall at 3 p.m. on Meadow’s Parade Field at the Army Special Operations Command headquarters.
Baer, a native of Croswell, Mich., has been serving as the command sergeant major of the Army Special Forces Command (Airborne) since April 2006, according to a USASOC press release.
He has served in Special Forces for the last 27 years, 20 of which were with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), at Fort Campbell, Ky.
Baer is a veteran of several combat operations, ranging from Operation Desert Storm in 1990-91 to the current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Hall has been the Army Special Operations Command command sergeant major since November 2001 and will be retiring after 31 years of military service, the release said.
