LAS CRUCES, N.M. — A Las Cruces man is accused of fatally shooting a former Army Ranger who was his housemate.
A Dona Ana County grand jury on Thursday indicted 30-year-old James Bogart on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
He has pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in magistrate court.
Bogart has been held on the Dona Ana County Detention Center on $200,000 bond.
Authorities say 30-year-old Jeremy Hernandez, a Las Cruces native, was shot to death March 15 at a home owned by him and his wife.
The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that after leaving the Army, Hernandez worked as a contractor in Iraq and owned a business with his wife in Las Cruces.
