Skills assessment required for sergeants
Posted : Wednesday Apr 23, 2008 11:39:48 EDT
The Army is compiling a database of additional skills and capabilities among its junior noncommissioned officers and soldiers being promoted to the rank of sergeant are now required to take an on-line assessment survey.
The Warrior Attributes Inventory Assessment, or WAI assessment, became effective April 1 and is mandatory for all active-duty soldiers promoted to the grade of E-5 after Jan. 1.
It is also required of all soldiers between the grades of E-5 and E-7 upon entry into the Active National Guard, or AGR, program.
Completion of the WAI assessment will also be a requirement for graduation from the basic noncommissioned officers course.
The administration of the WAI assessment was announced in an all-Army activities message issued March 31 that stated the purpose of the assessment is to “provide a tool for the Army to evaluate NCO individual capabilities and potential for future assignments in the institutional Army.”
Soldiers promoted to sergeant will be notified via their Army Knowledge Online email accounts. Those who were promoted after Jan. 1 but who may potentially fall through the cracks because of a deployment or other mission will be identified by cadre at their respective BNCOC courses.
The soldiers will be directed to take the assessment in a proctored environment at a digital training facility on their post, camp or station. The assessment is an on-line survey estimated to take about 90 minutes to complete, according to the message.
Questions can be submitted to the Army Training Help Desk at https://athd.army.mil.
