6-year-old son of captain rescued from lake

CADIZ, Ky. — An Army captain deployed to Iraq is returning to Kentucky after a state wildlife resources officer rescued her 6-year-old son. The boy was found floating in Lake Barkley near Cadiz after he apparently fell from a docked boat.

Wildlife resources Officer Daniel Richardson declined to identify the victim but said he was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. His condition was not known Thursday evening.

Richardson said emergency medical technicians performed CPR at the dock and the child’s heartbeat was restored at Trigg County Hospital before he was transferred.

Police Sgt. Bill Snow said the boy’s father apparently locked him in a cabin cruiser at Barkley Marina and walked to the parking lot. When the man returned about five minutes later, he saw the boy in the water.
