N.D. guardsmen off to Mexican border region

DICKINSON, N.D. — About 100 National Guardsmen from western North Dakota are heading to Arizona next month to help with security on the U.S.-Mexico border.
The soldiers are with the Williston-based 818th Engineer Company and the Dickinson-based 816th. They’ll help build and improve roads used by the U.S. Border Patrol.
About 50 soldiers with the 818th are set to leave June 1, and 50 members of the 816th are scheduled to depart on June 20. Each group will be gone 20 days.
