KEARNEY, Neb. — The Army is resuming its officer training program at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen said Wednesday that military budget cuts forced closure of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the university in 1996.
The university began offering military science classes this past fall at the request of the National Guard.
The full ROTC program classes begin this coming school year, and 20 to 30 cadets are expected to join.
Program graduates enter the Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard as second lieutenants.
