Medical selection board to convene July 22

A selection board will convene July 22 to consider nominations for medical clinic command positions that become open in 2009.

The selection board of seven colonels from the Nurse Corps, Medical Corps, Medical Service Corps and Medical Specialist Corps will recommend a slate of potential commanders for the Army surgeon general, who in turn will make final selections.

The zone of consideration will include promotable majors, lieutenant colonels, promotable lieutenant colonels and colonels for assignment to noncentralized selection list Level 1 and Level 2 commands.

The clinics designated for new commanders are in Belgium, Germany, South Korea, Puerto Rico and the continental U.S.

Officers who want to compete for selection should submit a request to the Human Resources Command no later than June 26. For specific details, consult MilPer Message 08-130, dated May 12.
