Army to promote 771 officers in June

There will be 771 active component officer promotions in June, including the first increment advancements off the new chief warrant officer lists.

The monthly promotion forecast approved by the Office of the G-1 in early May calls for 85 advancements to colonel for all branches and corps; 204 to lieutenant colonel; 321 to major; 82 to captain; 12 to chief warrant officer 5; 38 to chief warrant officer 4, and 79 to chief warrant officer 3.

Within the Army Competitive Category, there will be 26 promotions to colonel for maneuver, fire and effects officers; 15 for operational support officers, and 16 for members of the force sustainment category. These officers, on average, will have 22 years and one month of commissioned service when promoted.

ACC promotions to lieutenant colonel will total 55 for maneuver, fires and effects; 33 for operational support, and 35 for force sustainment. The average “pin-on” point will be 16 years and 11 months of service.

March completed the 2007 ACC major list, which means there will not be any promotions to O-4 for basic-branch officers until a new list compiled by the 2008 board is released and confirmed by the Senate. The board adjourned May 2.

There will be 82 promotions to captain for ACC officers, which will reduce the 2008 list to fewer than 3,200 names.

Most officers on that list can expect to be promoted at 38 months of service.

There will be 79 promotions off the new chief warrant officer lists that were released May 1.
