Detrick research lab gets new commander

FREDERICK, Md. — A new commander formally takes charge Tuesday at the Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick.
Col. John Skvorak succeeds Col. George Korch, who is officially retiring in September after 22 years of service. Korch had been the commander of the institute since 2005.
A change-of-command ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Blue and Gray Field.
Col. Skvorak holds a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine.
