The Army Reserve’s Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year “Best Warrior” Competition will take place July 6-10 at Fort McCoy, Wis.
Eighteen NCOs and 12 soldiers are competing this year. The top NCO and soldier will go on to represent the Army Reserve at the Army’s NCO and Soldier of the Year competition Sept. 28-Oct. 3 at Fort Lee, Va.
Competitors will face various tests, including a physical fitness test, a written exam on general military topics, an essay on an assigned topic, weapons qualification, land navigation and tests in a number of critical warrior tasks and battle drills. They also will face selection boards in front of their Army Reserve peers. These boards will evaluate each soldier’s appearance, military bearing and knowledge in a number of key areas.
Winners of the Army Reserve competition will be announced during an awards dinner July 19 at Fort McCoy. For more information, visit http://www.usarc.army.mil/ncoy%2Dsoy/.
