General moves announced

In other senior officer moves, the Defense Department announced June 23 that Maj. Gen. Edgar E. Stanton, director of the Army budget, has been nominated for advancement to lieutenant general and assignment as the military deputy to the assistant secretary of the Army for financial management.
A finance officer with degrees from Florida State University and the Naval Postgraduate School, Stanton commanded the Soldier Support Institute at Fort Jackson, Fla., and the 336th Finance Command in Kuwait before becoming Army budget chief in August 2004.
If confirmed, Stanton will replace Lt. Gen. David F. Melcher who became military deputy for budget in December 2006.
Also slated for summer moves are the following:
Maj. Gen. Steven R. Abt, deputy chief of engineers, reserve component (Individual Mobilization Augmentee), Office of the Chief of Engineers, will become the deputy commanding general (Individual Mobilization Augmentee), Accessions Command, Fort Monroe, Va.
Maj. Gen. Byron S. Bagby, commandant, Joint Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Va., will become the chief of staff of U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army.
Maj. Gen. Rita M. Broadway, commander (Troop Program Unit), 89th Regional Readiness Command, Wichita, Kan., will become the deputy commanding general (Individual Mobilization Augmentee), Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Va.
Maj. Gen. Michael R. Eyre, commander (Troop Program Unit), 416th Engineer Command, Darien, Ill., will become the deputy chief of engineers, reserve components (Individual Mobilization Augmentee), Office of the Chief of Engineers, Washington, D.C.
Maj. Gen. Jay W. Hood, will become chief of staff for U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. He recently served as commanding general, First Army Division East, Fort Meade, Md.
Brig. Gen. Joseph B. DiBartolomeo, Army National Guard, deputy commanding general, Army Special Forces Command (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N. C., will become the deputy chief in the Office of Defense Representative-Pakistan, U. S. Central Command, Pakistan.
Brig. Gen. Michael T. Harrison, director for joint and futures in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, will become the deputy commanding g for support, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, N. Y.
Brig. Gen. Francis G. Mahon, deputy commanding general, Fifth U.S. Army North, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, will become the director of the Army Quadrennial Defense Review, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8.
Brig. Gen. Jennifer L. Napper, deputy commander for Joint Task Force-Global Network Operations, Defense Information Systems Agency, Arlington, Va., will become commanding general of the 7th Signal Command, Fort Gordon, Ga.
