‘My Board File’ system now open

Online services have opened for the Army Competitive Category battalion command and key billet boards that meet in September.

Now available are automated preference statements and the “My Board File” system that allows officers to review, and update as needed, the same electronic documents that will be seen by the boards that select basic-branch lieutenant colonels and promotable majors for assignment to key leadership positions that become vacant in fiscal 2010.

Projected board dates are: Force Sustainment, Sept. 3-18; Maneuver, Fires and Effects, Sept. 3-20, and Operations Support, Sept. 9-17.

The My Board File system and online preference statements opened Tuesday, and will remain open until Aug. 25 for the MFE and FS boards, and Aug. 26 for the OS board.

The zone of eligibility includes all basic-branch lieutenant colonels who have not commanded at the battalion level, as well as the nearly 1,400 majors recommended for promotion by the annual ACC lieutenant colonel board that met in February and March.

The boards will operate under rules of the Officer Personnel Management system implemented in 2006, and recently adjusted by Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey.

The changes include an expansion of command and key billet assignments for officers pursuing single-track careers in a functional area, and the recent addition of transition teams and provincial reconstruction teams to the centralized command selection process.

The standard length of a battalion command tour remains 24 months, except that officers assigned to a lifecycle until will command for the entire lifecycle. There will be no changes of command during deployment.

Officers who want to compete for command or a key billet assignment should submit their preferences online, rank ordering positions, using the dedicated Web site at https://www.isdrad16.army.mil/ahrc/ospp/home/HTDocs.

The “My Board File” system can be accessed through a link on the Human Resources Command homepage at https://www.hrc.army.mil/site/Active/index2.asp.
