Enemy small-arms fire brought down a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter Wednesday in Kherwar District, Logar province in southern Afghanistan.
According to a press release from Combined Joint Task Force 101, the pilots were able to land the aircraft and evacuate all aboard before the helicopter caught fire.
Following the evacuation, the release said, helicopters were used in a show of force to clear the area of the burned Black Hawk, firing warning rounds before using precision-guided munitions to destroy the aircraft.
There were no injuries among non-combatants or coalition service members, the release said.
