Senate confirms general nominations

The Senate confirmed the four- and three-star promotion nominations of several officers July 23, including new commanders for the Training and Doctrine Command, Army Materiel Command and U.S. Army Europe.
Approved for appointment to full general are:
Lt. Gen. Martin Dempsey, for assignment as CG of the Training and Doctrine command, Fort Monroe, Va.
Lt. Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, for assignment as CG of the Army Materiel Command, Alexandria, Va.
Lt. Gen. Carter F. Ham, for assignment as CG of U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Heidelberg, Germany.
Approved for reappointment and initial appointment to lieutenant general are:
Lt. Gen. Ronald L. Burgess, for assignment as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C.
Lt. Gen. John F. Kimmons, for assignment as director of the intelligence staff for the director of national intelligence, Washington, D.C.
Lt. Gen. Richard P. Zahner, for assignment as Army G2 (chief of intelligence), Washington, D.C.
Maj. Gen. Robert E. Durbin, for assignment as special assistant to the Army chief of staff for enterprise management, Washington, D.C..
Maj. Gen. David M. Rodriguez, for assignment as senior military assistant to the secretary of defense, Washington, D.C.
Maj. Gen. Edgar E. Stanton III, for assignment as military deputy for budget to the assistant secretary of the Army (financial management and comptroller).
