Ex-soldier pleads guilty to sexual assault

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A former decorated Fort Carson soldier who pleaded guilty to raping his neighbor received a 25 years-to-life sentence for a crime a judge called “as bad as it gets.”
Brandon David Allen maintains he doesn’t remember the attack but apologized to the woman in court. The 28-year-old woman told Judge David Miller on Friday she struggles being home alone at night since she was sexually assaulted June 14, 2006.
Police arrested Allen in Kentucky two months later.
Police say Allen broke into the woman’s house while her husband was out of town. A police detective says the woman obtained information from Allen while he attacked her that later led to his arrest.
The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to sexual assault, assault and burglary.
