FORT POLK, La. — Fort Polk will add more than 800 soldiers next year when it takes on a new training mission, the Army said.
The Army reassigned the mission to train Foreign Security Force Transition Teams from Fort Riley, Kan., to a training brigade scheduled for activation in spring 2009.
The new 162nd Infantry Training Brigade will have about 820 soldiers, augmented by contract employees, the military said.
An advance party of about 270 soldiers will arrive at Fort Polk over the next several months.
