FORT JACKSON, S.C. — Officials at Fort Jackson say two soldiers that were training there have died.
The base announced Wednesday that memorial services were held earlier this week for Pvt. Dominique Gibson-Brooks of Durham, N.C. and Pvt. Derryl Britt of Houston.
Base officials said Gibson-Brooks had a seizure Sept. 25 and was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A statement from the base said Britt reported feeling dizzy and exhausted after training on Sept. 23, and doctors discovered he had a brain hemorrhage.
Britt underwent surgery to relieve pressure, but was taken off life support Friday after his condition declined and he had cardiac arrest.
Both were scheduled to graduate from training in October.
