TACOMA, Wash. — Bail has been set at $100,000 on a decorated Fort Lewis soldier who was arrested after the fatal shooting of a friend.
Sgt. Christopher Thomas Green, 23, remained in custody after the court hearing Tuesday for investigation of first-degree manslaughter.
Pierce County sheriff’s Detective Ed Troyer said Green called authorities Monday after he woke up from a night of drinking. Green told investigators he found 31-year-old Martin White dead of a gunshot to the face and neck on the floor of his bedroom in Parkland.
Deputies found two handguns, both belonging to Green, and one spent shell casing.
Defense lawyer Bryan G. Hershman says Green has deployed three times and was awarded the Bronze Star for valor in combat.
